The first thing that came to mind when I first encountered a Sphynx Cat was Egypt, which to my dismay actually originated from Canada. The breed probably got the name from its features, furless and unusual for most people.
Though considered a rare breed, the sphynx cat still managed to end up with a small circle of proud owners. These owners treat their cats with such care that they dress them up like little children, for the unlearned these might seem a bit off but actually these cats require additional cover during the colder months of the year.
Due to the sphinxes unusual features, they require specialized care. Body oils for example tend to build up due to the absence of hair, bathing at least once a week should prove sufficient. Care should also be considered when taking the sphynx out on a sunny day as they could develop sunburn and skin damage much like that of humans.
Sphynxes are known to display high levels of energy, intelligence and curiosity which tends to take them into dangerous situations. Additional care may need to be adressed in this area.
With all these aside, the sphynx cat is well worth the time and effort for they are known to have a high level of affection for their owners.
I’m flying off to Egypt to get me one eh, I mean drive to the nearest pet store so I can get me one of these cute little cats.
